On Saturday May 24th WCSX is doing “The Concert That Never Was”.  It features the Paz-man’s Supersession, Leighton wsg. me,  and three pretty cool bands. How does The Beatles,  The Who, and Pink Floyd sound to you? Actually 3 tribute bands to those masters, The BackBeats(Beatles), Live The Who, and The Machine (Pink Floyd). It’s all FREE and All Ages at Northville Downs.  Music starts AT 1:OOPM.  Here’s my question to you.  If YOU could put together a 3 band concert, with no consideration to $$ or politics etc.  WHAT 3 BANDS WOULD THEY BE??  No fair using the obvious: LEIGHTON w Kostan, Paz-man, LEIGHTON w Kostan AND Paz-man dream-team. Even fantasy has limitations 

Join me this Friday May 9th for our FREE ,Bring in the Weekend, party downtown. It’s in the GM Ren cen, in the Wintergarden, which overlooks the river. I’ll broadcast live from 6pm. You can register for VIP seating for all 8 of our Rockin on the Riverfront concerts and ANDIAMO freebees too. We’ll give away Leighton’s new cd. They’re playing live, with me joining their second set. It’s really a comfortable venue. The grown-up way to rock. Leighton starts at 8pm. By the way 3 of the guys in Leighton were in a band called Artist. Artist won the Miller Rock to Riches contest in the 80’s. It was a national contest. They beat over a thousand bands. And that was without me-Steve Kostan 

The Friday night fun starts Friday April 25th, INSIDE the Gm Ren Cen. I’ll be broadcasting live from Andiamo. Great food,  atmosphere. There’s a FREE concert from 50 AMP FUSE. These guys even do Queen stuff live, with great vocals. Join me starting at 6pm. “50″ hits at 8pm. The “good old days” continue!-Steve

ALSO, it was so cool to see Ken Calvert be a part of the Piston’s All Time Greats ceremony Tuesday April 8th at the Palace. It was great to see all those heros of mine, from Bing to Badboys to Billups. The last two summers have had some excellent FREE classic rock, at our Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series bhehind the GM Ren Cen. This year we want to get going a little earlier so I’ll be broadcasting some of my Friday shows from The Ren Cen BEFORE the actual outdoor concert season kicks in. Remember there’s live music in the Andiamo right there on the riverfront.I’ll let you know about that part when it’s finalized. You know I’ll try weasel  myself on stage as Steve “the Motor City Axe Muderer” returns! Seriously, it’s great venue, with great food,  and I think this year I may take a cue from one of our sales guys, who got a room for a Friday night and then caught the Tigers on Saturday. Finally a reason to go to a movie. Was it just me but were the Oscars a bunch of movies that most people didn’t care about and even fewer went to see?? But now comes , “Shine a Light” , the new Stones movie. The previews look great, of couse I’ve been a Stones freak for over 40 years, but this is actually a movie you really want to see on a really big screen.  It’s not some tiny love story or social commentary flick that would be the same on an old 19 inch TV.  We have a Csx sneak peak comin up before the April 4th release date. Can’t wait.

I thought it was too good to be true. Or 50/50 at best. I’m talking about the Zepplin tour this fall. Page wanted to do it. He said, rightly so,  that the band still had something to offer. No kiddin!  But now it looks like Plant is not into it. He wants to leave their last gig in London as THEIR “Swan Song”.  After all, when you manage to get JJ to attend a hard rock concert, what else is there to accomplish??  You know if there wasn’t a Zepplin,  Plant couldn’t do all these cool side projects.  I have a LOT more thoughts on this but..
